Kyoto Ceramics Hall sits at the bottom of Gojozaka, where the climb to Kiyomizu-dera starts. The ground-floor shop sells Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki from well-known potters and kilns to young makers, and on demonstration days you can watch a potter at work. The gallery upstairs puts on shows by potters from Kyoto and beyond.
Insider tip
Entry is free. Spend ¥3,300 or more and your first two hours in its car park are free. The monthly demonstration schedule is on its website.
