Fruit Parlor Cricket has been a fruit specialist since 1974, opened by an owner who traded at Kyoto's central wholesale market. Order the jelly served in a hollowed-out grapefruit, orange or lemon, with the peel as its lid. It's made less sweet on purpose, so you eat it with the whipped cream on the side and squeeze the lid over the top.

A jelly is ¥900 on the shop's price list, and they'll ship gift boxes too. It's on the west side of Nishioji-dori, across from Hirano Shrine. Some Tuesdays it's closed.
